Saudi Crown Prince launches 2026 national blood donation campaign

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has launched the 2026 annual national blood donation campaign by personally donating blood. The initiative aims to promote voluntary donation, foster social responsibility, and ensure the Kingdom achieves self-sufficiency in blood supplies to support patients with cancer, blood disorders, and emergency needs.

The campaign follows a highly successful 2025 period where total donors exceeded 900,000. During the previous year's specific initiative, participation increased fourfold, with over 65,000 donors recorded, a 100% voluntary donation rate, and more than 85% being first-time donors. These efforts provided blood, platelets, and plasma to over 63,000 individuals.

Various regional leaders and officials, including the Governor of Al-Ahsa and the Deputy Governor of Asir, have participated in the campaign to encourage community involvement. The initiative aligns with the Health Sector Transformation Program under Saudi Vision 2030, which seeks to build a resilient and efficient healthcare system.
