Mohammed Nabil Benabdallah urges Moroccan voters to use ballot boxes against government

Mohammed Nabil Benabdallah, Secretary-General of the Party of Progress and Socialism, has intensified his criticism of the Moroccan government ahead of the legislative elections scheduled for September 23, 2026. Speaking at a rally in Tangier, Benabdallah urged citizens to express their dissatisfaction with the current administration through the ballot box rather than through voter abstention.

Benabdallah criticized the government's record, citing rising living costs, youth unemployment, and perceived conflicts of interest. He specifically highlighted issues in healthcare coverage, noting that approximately 8.5 million people remain effectively excluded from benefits. He positioned his party as a viable political alternative capable of addressing social justice, public services, and purchasing power.

During his address, Benabdallah called for voters to make decisions based on individual conscience and competence rather than slogans. He introduced the slogan ‘the children of Abdelouahed are not all the same’ to encourage voters to evaluate candidates based on their specific records and integrity rather than family or party affiliations. He warned that abstaining from voting would allow others to decide the country's future.
