Mohammed Onawo selected as APM Nasarawa governorship candidate

Senator Mohammed Onawo, representing the Nasarawa South Senatorial District, has emerged as the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) governorship candidate for the 2027 general election in Nasarawa State.

Onawo was affirmed during a special delegates primary held in Lafia, involving delegates from all 13 Local Government Areas of the state. The primary was held to fill the vacancy left by the withdrawal of Dr. Mohamed Auwal, the Nasarawa State APM Chairman, who stepped down to promote party unity.

Following his affirmation, Onawo pledged to lead an inclusive, issue-based campaign centered on security, infrastructure, agriculture, education, and job creation. He cited his legislative experience in the state legislature, the House of Representatives, and the Senate as key qualifications for the role. The congress was monitored by security agencies and officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
