Mohammed Oujar calls for political accountability in Morocco
Mohammed Oujar, a member of the Political Bureau of the National Rally of Independents (RNI), emphasized the importance of political responsibility and ethical conduct during a party meeting in Agloum. Oujar stated that political actors must strengthen Morocco’s democratic path rather than weakening it through situational or electoral calculations.
Addressing the current government led by Aziz Akhannouch, Oujar noted that the administration is a collective effort and not exclusive to the RNI. He questioned the stance of coalition partners, such as the Istiqlal and Authenticity and Modernity (PAM) parties, regarding their responsibility to defend the government's record. He argued that participating in a majority requires sharing responsibility in both success and difficulty, rather than distancing oneself from the government as elections approach.
Furthermore, Oujar warned against unethical political practices emerging ahead of upcoming elections, specifically citing the ‘kidnapping of candidates’ and attempts to dismantle party organizations. He called for competition based on programs and values rather than tactics that undermine political integrity.
