Mohammed VI Fund for Investment to acquire Marbio stake from Recipharm
The Mohammed VI Fund for Investment (FM6I) is set to acquire the 10% stake in Maroc Biotechnologies (Marbio) currently held by the Swedish group Recipharm. A framework agreement was signed on September 21, 2026, between the Kingdom of Morocco, FM6I, BAB Consortium, and Recipharm AB.
This transaction marks Recipharm’s withdrawal from the project, which was launched in 2021 to establish industrial capacities for vaccines and biological products in Morocco. The deal is subject to regulatory approvals and the fulfillment of specific conditions. To ensure operational continuity, the agreement includes transition provisions between Recipharm and Marbio.
Marbio operates a fill-and-finish industrial platform in Benslimane, specializing in the sterile filling and packaging of vaccines. The BAB Consortium, a participant in the project, includes Attijariwafa bank, Bank of Africa, and Banque Centrale Populaire. The acquisition by FM6I aims to strengthen national ownership and expand Marbio’s industrial and technological reach across the African continent.
