Morocco: King Mohammed VI grants pardons to 935 people

King Mohammed VI of Morocco has granted royal pardons to 935 individuals to commemorate the anniversary of the Revolution of the King and the People. The Ministry of Justice announced that the beneficiaries include 807 people currently in detention and 128 people who are currently at liberty.

Among those in detention, 796 individuals received sentence reductions, 8 had the remainder of their prison sentences waived, and 3 had life sentences commuted to fixed-term sentences. For those at liberty, the pardons included the waiver of prison sentences or their remainders for 34 people, the waiver of fines for 73 people, and various combinations of sentence and fine remissions for others.
