Mohammed Yaseen returned to UK prison after ISIS conviction
Mohammed Yaseen, an Iraqi national and convicted former member of the Islamic State (ISIS), has been returned to prison in the United Kingdom following his recent release. Yaseen had been serving a two-year sentence for illegally entering the UK via the English Channel but was released after serving six months. During his time on bail, he was placed in a hostel in Windsor.
A Ministry of Justice source indicated that Yaseen was recalled to prison after allegedly breaching good-behaviour requirements at his bail hostel. His release and subsequent status have drawn scrutiny due to his documented history with ISIS. A German court previously convicted him of membership in the terrorist group, noting his involvement in guarding prisoners and managing crowds during executions.
Efforts to deport Yaseen have been complicated by a pending asylum application. The Foreign Office has reportedly raised concerns regarding the potential for mistreatment or execution if he is returned to Iraq, a concern previously noted by German authorities during prior deportation attempts.
