Mohammedan SC withdraws from IFA Shield 2026

Mohammedan SC has withdrawn from the IFA Shield 2026 in protest against alleged “biased refereeing” during their recent Calcutta Football League (CFL) Premier Division match against Mohun Bagan Super Giant. The club management and supporters claim a decisive winning goal scored by Mohun Bagan was from a clear offside position.

Following the decision, Calcutta Customs will replace Mohammedan SC in Group A, which also includes East Bengal FC and Punjab FC. Mohammedan SC was originally scheduled to open the tournament against East Bengal. The club is currently facing additional challenges, including a funding crunch and a transfer ban, and has expressed intentions to focus on the upcoming Indian Football League (IFL) 2026-27 season instead.
