Mohammedia election integrity probe demanded by Democratic Left Federation

The Democratic Left Federation (Fédération de la Gauche Démocratique) in the Moroccan city of Mohammedia submitted a formal complaint to the local labor office on 3 August 2026, asking for an investigation into alleged irregularities in the upcoming legislative elections. The party alleges that some candidates used festivals, official inaugurations and pre‑campaign rallies as electioneering tools, organized feasts, and collected citizens’ national ID cards to influence voters. It also points to audio‑visual recordings on social media showing candidates discussing such practices.

The federation urges authorities to apply legal measures that ensure fair competition, prevent vote‑buying, misuse of election money and the employment of temporary staff under the guise of “electoral workers.” It calls for swift action to protect the integrity of the electoral process in Mohammedia.
