Mohan Bhagwat calls for inclusive development to reach the most marginalized
RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat has called for inclusive economic and social development, emphasizing that true progress must reach the most marginalized members of society. Speaking at an event in Yavatmal to mark the birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, Bhagwat advocated for the philosophy of Integral Humanism and the concept of Antyodaya, which focuses on uplifting the last individual in the socio-economic hierarchy.
While acknowledging that simultaneous growth for all citizens in a large nation like India may be difficult, Bhagwat asserted that the gap between the highest and lowest levels of development must be kept to an absolute minimum. He suggested that if national growth fails to reach marginalized communities, policymakers should rethink their development models to place the poorest at the center of planning.
Bhagwat identified six fundamental necessities that every individual should be guaranteed: food, clothing, shelter, basic education, healthcare, and the social capability to offer hospitality to guests. He noted that while poverty existed historically, even underprivileged households in ancient India possessed these essentials to maintain a life of dignity.
