Mohan Bhagwat defines Dharma as a lifelong guide at Ujjain summit

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat addressed the Yuva Dharma Sansad in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, emphasizing that the concept of ‘dharma’ is a lifelong guide rather than a practice reserved for old age or retirement.

Bhagwat distinguished the Indian concept of dharma from the Western notion of religion, stating that while religion can be restrictive, dharma leads toward liberation and righteousness. He described dharma as a principle that governs conduct, duties, and responsibilities, and noted that it is embedded in India’s civilizational DNA, which drives the nation to assist even hostile countries during times of need.

Addressing a large group of young participants, he urged them to move beyond fixed ideas and ego, which can lead to the delusion of total control. He also touched upon the inclusive nature of Indian secularism and the importance of environmental protection as a core tenet of dharma.
