Mohanlal performs own climax car sequence in Jailer 2

Action director Chethan D’Souza has confirmed that Malayalam actor Mohanlal personally performed the car sequence in the climax of the film Jailer 2. This clarification follows fan speculation and criticism regarding the use of a body double, particularly after mimicry artist Joby Kodakara claimed to have doubled for the actor in certain portions.

Joby Kodakara addressed the controversy by stating his contribution was limited to brief shots of his hands and legs, such as changing gears or pressing the accelerator, during an airport sequence. He emphasized that his face was never shown in the final cut and rejected claims that he replaced Mohanlal in the disputed climax shot.

Despite debates over Mohanlal’s screen time and reported cuts from the theatrical version, Jailer 2 has achieved significant commercial success. The film has reportedly collected Rs 424.25 crore worldwide, making it the highest-grossing Tamil release of 2026 to date.
