Mohd Shafie Apdal urges approval for Israel Houghton concert in Sabah

Parti Warisan President Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal has called on authorities to permit a proposed concert by American Christian singer Israel Houghton and his group, provided all necessary approvals and regulations are met.

Shafie emphasized that Sabah’s strength lies in its religious and racial diversity, noting that various faiths have coexisted peacefully for generations. He stated that supporting the freedom of Christians to attend the event does not imply agreement with the artist’s personal or political views.

He urged authorities to enforce laws fairly and requested that any legal obstacles be clearly communicated. Additionally, he suggested that the police should manage any reasonable security concerns to ensure public order and protect attendees. Shafie maintained that while individuals have the right to voice peaceful objections, such opposition should not be the sole factor in determining whether a religious gathering is allowed to proceed.
