Mohit Sharma to join Chennai Super Kings as bowling coach for IPL 2027
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are set to appoint former Indian pacer Mohit Sharma as the team’s bowling coach for the IPL 2027 season. The decision follows the appointment of Zaheer Khan as the franchise’s new head coach, who reportedly recommended Sharma for the role.
Sharma, 38, previously played four seasons for CSK, appearing in 48 IPL matches for the franchise. He retired from professional cricket in December 2025. He is expected to succeed Eric Simmons, who served as bowling coach under former head coach Stephen Fleming.
The coaching staff overhaul comes as CSK seeks to rebuild following three consecutive seasons without reaching the playoffs. Fleming recently departed the franchise after a long tenure that included five IPL titles. Further changes to the CSK support staff are expected in the coming weeks.
