Mohsen Rezaee meets Azerbaijan Deputy PM to discuss regional security

Mohsen Rezaee, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, met with Shahin Mustafazadeh, Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan, to discuss regional security and bilateral relations. During the meeting, Rezaee characterized recent military actions by the United States and Israel against Iran as violations of international law, asserting that Iran has defended itself with strength.

Rezaee stated that Donald Trump is caught in a “quagmire” where he is unable to either negotiate or engage in war. He claimed that while Iran has communicated its conditions to the United States, Trump lacks the capacity to make decisions, leading the U.S. to resort to aerial blockades out of desperation. Rezaee also expressed Iran’s readiness to assist in establishing peace within the Caucasus region.

In response, Mustafazadeh described Iran as a “friend and brother” to Azerbaijan, emphasizing the warm relations between the two nations. He explicitly denied rumors suggesting that Azerbaijani territory would be used against Iran and noted that Azerbaijan’s stance on ending conflict reflects its commitment to peace. Mustafazadeh also welcomed Iran’s potential positive role in the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
