Mohun Bagan Super Giant advances to Durand Cup semifinals

Mohun Bagan Super Giant secured a spot in the semifinals of the 135th Durand Cup after defeating Jamshedpur FC in a penalty shootout at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata. The match ended 1-1 in regulation time, with Sahal Abdul Samad scoring for Mohun Bagan and Devendra Murgaonkar scoring for Jamshedpur FC.

The penalty shootout was a marathon event that reached sudden death. After 16 consecutive successful kicks, Jamshedpur's Lawmsangzuala had his effort saved by goalkeeper Vishal Kaith. Tekcham Abhishek Singh then converted the decisive penalty to seal the 9-8 victory for Mohun Bagan.

Mohun Bagan will advance to face the winner of the quarterfinal between Shillong Lajong FC and NorthEast United FC on August 20 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Shillong.
