Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital construction progresses in Uasin Gishu

Construction is underway for the new Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) Multi-Specialty Hospital in Kiplombe, Uasin Gishu County. The project, overseen by the Kenya Defence Forces, is designed to reduce congestion at the existing MTRH facility and expand access to advanced medical treatments.

The first phase of the development will provide 2,000 beds, which includes 60 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds and 120 High Dependency Unit (HDU) beds. The long-term master plan for the 200-acre site targets a total of 4,000 beds. Additionally, the complex will feature a student village for medical researchers and trainees to bolster Kenya’s capacity for innovation and specialist training. Once operational, the hospital is expected to serve millions of residents in the Rift Valley and Western Kenya regions, as well as the wider East African community.
