Mojokerto experiences drought as Brantas River dries up
The dry season has caused the Brantas River in Kweden Kembar Village, Mojokerto, to dry up, creating a makeshift shortcut for residents traveling between Mojokerto and Sidoarjo. Locals have constructed a two-meter-wide path across the riverbed and used simple bamboo bridges to cross remaining water flows, significantly reducing travel time compared to longer routes via existing bridges.
In response to the drought, the Mojokerto Regency government, led by Regent Muhammad Al Barra, has initiated emergency relief. The regional disaster management agency (BPBD) has distributed 84 tanks of clean water to residents in Duyung Village, Trawas. Similar water distribution efforts are planned for Kunjorowesi and Manduro Manggunggajah villages to mitigate the impact of the dry season on local communities.
