Mojokerto experiences two separate fires in one day

Two separate fire incidents occurred in Mojokerto, East Java, on Saturday, August 22, 2026.

A fire broke out at the Koperasi Desa Merah Putih (KDMP) in Dlanggu around 5:30 PM WIB. The building contained large stocks of packaged cooking oil, which contributed to the intensity of the blaze. Witnesses reported hearing approximately three loud explosions coming from inside the facility before the flames spread rapidly. Firefighters worked with local residents to contain the fire and prevent it from reaching nearby residential areas.

Earlier that day, around 12:00 PM WIB, a fire damaged a classroom at SMK Muhammadiyah 2 Kutorejo in Windurejo. The blaze is suspected to have originated from trash being burned behind the school, which then spread to the building. Two units from the Mojokerto BPBD Fire Department were deployed to the scene. No casualties or injuries were reported, and the fire was brought under control by 1:20 PM WIB. Material losses for the school are still being calculated.
