Mojtaba Khamenei prohibits actions harming Iran's social cohesion
Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has issued a directive prohibiting any actions or rhetoric that could harm social cohesion within the country. In a message marking Government Week, Khamenei emphasized the need to highlight Iran’s strength and power while avoiding discourse that fosters despair or weakens national motivation.
Khamenei criticized the focus on national weaknesses, arguing that such narratives benefit adversaries and cause uncertainty among allies. He specifically warned against “imaginary dualisms,” such as the debates between war and negotiation or consensus and extremism. He praised President Masoud Pezeshkian’s administration for its efforts to secure goods and manage energy despite heavy sanctions and conspiracies from the “American-Zionist enemy.”
The directive comes amid significant economic pressure and ongoing conflict. The Supreme Leader identified several economic priorities for the government, including addressing inflation, unemployment, price management, and the gradual reduction of US dollar dependency through a “resistance economy.” These measures follow expanded US sanctions targeting Iran’s digital assets, technology, and shipping sectors.
