Mokokchung DPDB initiates Viksit Mokokchung 2047 vision document
The Mokokchung District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) has begun preparations for the ‘Viksit Mokokchung 2047’ vision document. Aligned with the broader Viksit Nagaland and Viksit Bharat 2047 initiatives, the project requires comprehensive input from various government departments. During an October meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Ajit Kumar Verma, it was noted that only a few departments have submitted their required information thus far.
The meeting also addressed the implementation of the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026. Officials emphasized the necessity of four-stream waste segregation—wet, dry, sanitary, and special care—to mitigate local dumping and drainage problems. Additionally, the board reviewed land allotments for government offices at Marepkong Ward and approved a proposal for a verification committee under the Local Area Development Program for 2026-2027.
Other agenda items included discussions on reviving the Mokokchung District Art and Culture Council to preserve Ao Naga traditions and the official registration of community societies from Kumlong Ward and Ungma.
