Mokokchung wins inaugural Nagaland State Judo Championship

The inaugural Nagaland State Judo Championship concluded at Eden Academy in Mokokchung after a three-day competition. Organized by the Nagaland Judo Association, the event featured athletes across 17 age groups and multiple weight categories.

Mokokchung emerged as the overall champion, dominating the medal table with a total of 128 medals, including 47 gold, 39 silver, and 42 bronze. Zunheboto secured the runner-up position with 14 gold, three silver, and three bronze medals. Other participating districts included Dimapur, Kohima, Phek, Meluri, Tuensang, Mon, Chümoukedima, and Tseminyu.

The championship brought together approximately 481 participants from 10 districts. Officials at the event emphasized the importance of establishing a sports ecosystem in Nagaland and encouraged educational institutions to prioritize physical activity for students.
