Molde and Tromsø report high employment for Ukrainian refugees
Data from Statistics Norway (SSB) reveals that approximately 75 percent of Ukrainian refugees in Molde and Tromsø were employed in June 2026 after completing their introduction programs. This figure is significantly higher than the national average of approximately 65 percent.
There are notable regional variations in employment rates among Ukrainian refugees who have finished the integration program. While Molde and Tromsø lead with 75 percent employment, Oslo reported just over 55 percent, Bergen slightly above 50 percent, and Kristiansand recorded the lowest rate among major municipalities at 45 percent.
Factors influencing these differences include local labor market demands, specific vocational needs, length of residency, and individual characteristics such as age, education, and language proficiency. Statistics also show a correlation between time elapsed since program completion and employment status; those who finished in 2022 or 2023 had a 70 percent employment rate, compared to 65 percent for those who finished in 2024.
