Moldova and Austria strengthen economic cooperation in Vienna

Moldova and Austria are working to deepen economic cooperation through bilateral meetings and business missions. During a working visit to Vienna, Moldovan Secretary of State Cristina Ceban met with Austrian officials, including Elisabeth Weissenböck from the Federal Ministry for Economy, Energy and Tourism, to discuss economic developments and strengthen business ties.

Austria is currently the seventh largest foreign investor in Moldova, with 91 registered companies and investments totaling approximately 47.3 million euros. Key areas of interest for future collaboration include renewable energy, the automotive sector, dual education, and the pharmaceutical industry. Discussions also focused on Moldova's European path and utilizing the EU Growth Plan for investment projects.

Additionally, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry organized a Moldovan Economic Mission to Vienna from September 8-10, 2026. This event coincided with the sixth session of the Moldovan-Austrian Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation, aiming to identify new collaborative opportunities and consolidate economic relations between the two nations.
