Moldova and Council of Europe discuss democratic reform priorities

Moldovan Secretary of State Corina Călugăru met with Natalia Voutova, the new head of the Council of Europe Office in Chișinău, to discuss the ongoing partnership between the two entities.

The discussions focused on the democratic transformation of Moldova and the implementation of the Council of Europe’s Action Plan for the Republic of Moldova 2025-2028. Both parties emphasized the importance of coordination to ensure concrete results and the effective use of projects within the Action Plan.

Călugăru highlighted the Council of Europe’s role in supporting institutional reforms and human rights protection. She noted that Moldova aims to transition to a post-monitoring stage in relation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. Voutova reaffirmed the organization's commitment to supporting Moldova’s democratic reform efforts.
