Moldova and Greece discuss energy security and EU accession

Moldovan Prime Minister Vasile Tofan held a telephone conversation with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis to discuss strengthening bilateral relations and energy security. The discussions focused on diversifying energy sources and supply routes, as well as utilizing regional energy infrastructure and projects.

The leaders noted the potential for increased economic cooperation, particularly in energy, infrastructure, transport, and logistics. This follows a large Greek economic mission to Moldova in March. Additionally, Tofan briefed Mitsotakis on Moldova’s progress regarding its European Union accession process and the goal of maintaining momentum in negotiations.

Moldova currently utilizes liquefied natural gas imported through Greek terminals, such as Alexandroupolis and Revithoussa, via the Vertical Corridor.
