Moldova and Romania medical staff face salary cuts

In Chișinău, Moldova, doctors and nurses at the Timofei Moșneaga Republican Hospital received salaries 10 % lower for the previous month after the hospital administration removed performance‑based pay indicators, according to ZIUA.

In Romania, former health minister Alexandru Rogobete warned that a draft salary law would also cut medical staff earnings and could trigger a new exodus of doctors. He pledged not to vote for the bill, warned that it could jeopardise €700 million of EU recovery funds, and stressed that “Reforma nu înseamnă să reduci veniturile celor care salvează vieți” (reform does not mean reducing the incomes of those who save lives).
