Romania and Moldova launch seasonal influenza vaccination campaigns
Romania is addressing temporary shortages of injectable influenza vaccines, Vaxigrip and Influvac, which have left approximately 45,000 doses available in pharmacies. The Ministry of Health announced that a second shipment of over 600,000 doses is scheduled to arrive in stages, starting next week with 350,000 doses of one injectable vaccine, followed by 250,000 doses of the other by the end of October. Other vaccines, such as Fluenz for children and Efluelda for those over 60, remain in sufficient supply.
In Moldova, the seasonal vaccination campaign has commenced, with the first 1,880 doses arriving at the Soroca Health Center. The country has received 120,000 doses so far out of a total of 240,000 purchased for the 2026–2027 season. Priority for immunization is being given to medical workers, the elderly, pregnant women, and individuals with chronic conditions to mitigate the risks of the upcoming cold season.
