Moldova approves easier energy renovation loans for residential buildings

The Moldovan government has approved a new mechanism to facilitate energy renovation loans for residential building associations. Under this project, the National Center for Sustainable Energy will act as a guarantor for loans taken by residents, which can reach a maximum of 10 million lei over a seven-year period.

To reduce the financial burden on homeowners, the state will compensate for any interest rates exceeding 5% through the Residential Sector Energy Efficiency Fund. These funds are intended to support projects such as thermal insulation for walls, basements, and roofs, as well as the replacement of windows and the modernization of heating systems.

In a practical application of this support, a residential building in Chișinău has already completed 80% of its energy renovation works, which included mineral wool thermal insulation. The project cost over five million lei, with residents contributing only 30% of the total amount.
