Moldova approves defense modernization program for 2026‑2030

The Moldovan government approved on Wednesday the implementation programme for 2026‑2030 of its National Defense Strategy covering 2024‑2034. The five‑year plan sets out measures to modernise the national defence system, boost the reaction capacity of defence institutions and adapt them to current hybrid threats. It also aims to integrate Moldova more closely into the European Union’s security architecture and to strengthen bilateral, regional and international defence cooperation.

Defence Minister Anatolie Nosati said the programme “represents an essential step for consolidating the state’s defence capabilities, strengthening resilience and protecting democratic values”. The approved actions are intended to modernise the armed forces, increase participation in peace‑keeping missions and enhance Moldova’s contribution to regional security.
