Moldova backs Ukraine reconstruction and pushes EU accession at Gdańsk conference

At the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Gdańsk on 25 June, Moldovan Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu reaffirmed his country's support for Ukraine, noting that Moldova will continue to enhance connectivity, energy security and regional partnerships. He highlighted the launch of a bridge project over the Nistru River to improve ties with Ukraine and said, “The people of the Republic of Moldova, a neighboring country and close ally, stand with Ukraine.”

Munteanu also met Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk to discuss Moldova’s next steps toward European Union accession, Poland’s backing of additional negotiation clusters, and prospects for Polish investment. He praised Poland as “one of the strongest supporters of the Republic of Moldova on its European path” and emphasized that joint investment and solidarity are key to a more united, safe and prosperous Europe. The conference gathered delegations from about 100 countries to address Ukraine’s post‑war recovery and broader regional cooperation.
