Moldova bans 24 tons of contaminated food and pesticides

The National Agency for Food Safety (ANSA) in Moldova has banned the sale of over 24 tons of non-compliant food products following recent inspections. The seized goods include 23.18 tons of altered bananas and 820 kilograms of green tea contaminated with pesticides.

Laboratory analyses revealed that the green tea exceeded maximum permitted limits for the pesticides Chlorpyrifos and Lambda-cyhalothrin. To prevent these substances from reaching consumers, the affected lots were destroyed under the supervision of ANSA inspectors. The agency emphasized that its inspections at import points are designed to prevent unsafe food from entering the Moldovan market and reminded importers of their legal responsibility for product compliance.
