Moldova celebrates Economist's Day and hosts fiscal taxation lecture

The economic community in Moldova is celebrating Economist's Day on September 27. Officially established by government decree in 2001, the holiday recognizes the vital role of economic specialists in national development and planning.

In conjunction with the 35th anniversary of the Academy of Economic Studies (ASEM) and the TAXCON’26 international conference, a public lecture titled ‘Taxation: From Redistribution to Compliance’ was held. Organized by ASEM's Faculty of Finance and the School of Excellence in Economics and Business in collaboration with the State Tax Service of the Republic of Moldova and AmCham Moldova, the event featured Dr. Damián Migueles Chazarreta from the Swedish Tax Agency. The lecture provided students with international perspectives on taxpayer behavior and fiscal compliance, complemented by discussions on Moldovan national realities led by Cristina Petriciuc of the State Tax Service.
