Moldova Central Electoral Commission introduces digital ID and voter list verification

The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) of Moldova has announced new procedures for upcoming local and regional elections. Voters in the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia can now verify their registration details and assigned polling stations online via the official CEC platform or at local electoral offices. Requests to correct data or update voter lists must be submitted by November 8, 2026.

Additionally, the CEC has approved technical rules for digital identification at polling stations. Voters may use the EVO mobile application to scan a QR code provided by electoral operators, allowing for digital identity verification. Once the digital ID is confirmed against the electoral list, the voter can proceed to cast their ballot. This system is designed to streamline the identification process alongside traditional physical identification methods.
