Moldova creative industry reaches 5.6 billion lei in 2025

Moldova’s cultural and creative industries reached a turnover of 5.6 billion lei in 2025, according to Minister of Culture Dan Surucanu. The sector currently comprises over 2,800 economic entities and employs approximately 11,500 people.

This creative segment contributes roughly 3% to the national GDP, accounts for about 7% of the total number of companies in the country, and provides over 5% of all jobs. The Minister noted that the sector is transitioning toward a phase of internationalization and investment attraction, aiming to position Moldova as a regional hub where culture, technology, and entrepreneurship intersect.

The ecosystem includes traditional IT services alongside emerging fields such as animation, visual effects, game development, and audiovisual post-production. Additionally, discussions in Chișinău have focused on strengthening intellectual property rights for authors, producers, and performers to better leverage opportunities provided by European integration.
