Moldova Customs introduces online declaration for cash over 10,000 euros

The Customs Service of the Republic of Moldova has announced that travelers carrying cash equivalent to 10,000 euros or more are now able to submit their mandatory written declarations online.

Declarations can be completed and transmitted electronically via the eCustoms platform using a phone, tablet, or computer before arriving at the customs post. Once submitted, travelers only need to provide the system-assigned declaration number to the customs official. To use this service, users must register on the eCustoms portal and provide identity details, including the issuing country and travel document number.

Written declaration is mandatory for amounts of 10,000 euros or more per person when entering or exiting the Republic of Moldova. While amounts below this threshold do not require a written declaration, travelers must still verbally disclose the value if questioned by an official. Failure to declare required sums can result in the seizure of the funds and administrative fines ranging from 5,000 to 60,000 lei.
