Moldova demands Russian troop withdrawal and Transnistria demilitarization

Moldova is maintaining its stance regarding the withdrawal of Russian troops from its territory and the demilitarization of the Transnistria region. This position remains unchanged regardless of recent data concerning the volume of ammunition stored at the Cobasna depot.

Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Valeriu Chiveri stated that the issue must be viewed through two lenses: the technical dimension regarding the state and nature of the munitions, and the security dimension. Chiveri emphasized that the presence of foreign military forces and the existence of arms depots outside the control of constitutional authorities constitute a major security problem for the Republic of Moldova.

Recent reports from the Intelligence and Security Service indicate that of the approximately 14,000 tons of ammunition located at Cobasna, roughly 2,800 tons consist of active explosives. Chiveri noted that these challenges should be addressed in a responsible, technical manner alongside Moldova's international partners.
