Moldova energy sector sees consumer payment refunds and solar plant shutdowns

Premier Energy, Moldova's largest electricity supplier, announced that tenants who are away from their homes for at least 15 days can request a recalculation of electricity bills for unmetered consumption. Applicants must inform the building manager in writing before leaving and submit proof of the absence within 15 days of returning. The company also noted that recalculation for elevator electricity is possible only if all residents were absent for the entire period.

At the same time, renewable energy producers such as Navitas Energy reported having to cut or halt solar generation after being unable to sell the electricity on the market. The shortfall has led Moldova to increase imports of electricity from Ukraine and Romania.
