Moldova environmental mini-grants support community waste management

The ‘Moldova Fără Deșeuri’ (Moldova Without Waste) initiative has implemented six environmental mini-grants to support community-led waste management solutions across northern, central, and southern Moldova. Following an intensive training program for 27 community association representatives, selected projects received 1,000 EUR each to fund practical local solutions.

Key improvements include the installation of professional composting platforms to convert household biodegradable waste into natural fertilizer, preventing organic matter from entering landfills. Additionally, modular containers for plastic, paper, metal, and glass have been placed in high-traffic public areas such as bus stations, schools, and cultural centers. The initiative also supports environmental education through upcycling workshops for youth and educational animated video campaigns.
