Moldova expands national colposcopy network for cervical cancer screening
In Moldova, the Ministry of Health has expanded access to colposcopy services to support cervical cancer screening. Since late 2023, a national network of 12 colposcopy offices has been established, including nine in regional districts and three in Chișinău.
These facilities are equipped with modern technology, such as high-performance colposcopes and electrosurgery units, valued at $635,000. The equipment was procured by UNFPA with support from the UK Government. The network is digitally connected to the National Reference Center for Colposcopy and the Institute of Mother and Child to ensure coordinated care. Approximately 50 colposcopies are performed daily across these locations.
