Moldova extends merit scholarship deadline for Roma students

The application deadline for merit-based scholarships for Roma students and pupils has been extended to October 20. A total of 120 scholarships will be awarded, each valued at 1,200 lei per month.

The extension provides an additional 20 days for candidates to prepare documentation verifying their educational performance and ethnic background. The program is open to students in high school, technical vocational education, and higher education. To be eligible, students must not have academic failures and must not be recipients of other scholarship types.

According to Ivan Duminică of the Ministry of Education and Research, eligible high school students must be in the 10th, 11th, or 12th grades. Selection will be conducted by a commission including representatives from the Ministry, the Interethnic Relations Agency, universities, community mediators, and Roma civil society. Participation in olympiads and extracurricular activities will serve as advantages during the evaluation process.
