Moldova: Fathers must submit electronic applications for paternal leave
Fathers in Moldova seeking paternal leave indemnity must complete a two-step application process to receive payments. According to the National Social Insurance House (CNAS), requesting leave from an employer is insufficient; fathers must also submit an electronic application via the CNAS website.
Eligible fathers are entitled to 15 calendar days of paternal leave, which can be taken all at once or in segments of at least five consecutive days. The indemnity must be claimed within 12 months of the child's birth or, in the case of adoption, within 12 months of the adoption being finalized.
To qualify, fathers must be insured in the public social insurance system, either as employees with individual labor contracts or through administrative appointments. Additionally, they must meet specific contribution requirements: having at least three years of total insurance history or at least nine months of contributions within the 24 months preceding the birth.
