Moldova Finance Minister discusses taxi platform regulations and fiscal reforms
Moldovan Finance Minister Victoria Belous is leading efforts to increase fiscal transparency and reform public spending. One key focus involves regulating electronic taxi platforms, such as Yandex Go and Bolt, to prevent tax evasion. Current legislative proposals aim to require these platforms to be tax residents of Moldova and mandate that all transactions, including fares and commissions, be processed through authorized Moldovan banks to prevent funds from flowing through external channels.
Additionally, Minister Belous met with Robert Saum, the World Bank's Regional Director for Eastern Europe, to discuss fiscal policy for the upcoming year. Their discussions centered on optimizing public expenditures, accelerating reform implementation, and modernizing the salary system within the public sector.
