Moldova freelancers report 45 million lei in August revenue

Independent entrepreneurs in the Republic of Moldova reported total revenues exceeding 45.2 million lei in August 2026. According to the State Tax Service (SFS), the calculated single tax for these freelancers amounted to approximately 6.8 million lei, representing a 1.8% decrease compared to the previous month.

Data from the SFS indicates that 3,861 tax payment notices were generated and sent for the month of August. Approximately 54.9% of these independent entrepreneurs recorded transactions through dedicated business bank accounts. Additionally, 115 taxpayers utilized cash registers connected to the electronic sales monitoring system, with cash collections reaching roughly 1.39 million lei.

The tax rate is set at 15% for annual incomes up to 1.2 million lei, while a 35% rate applies to income exceeding that threshold. Collected funds are distributed among local budgets, the state social insurance budget, and mandatory medical insurance funds. Specifically, 53.3% is directed toward the social insurance system and 15.4% toward medical insurance.
