Moldova Implements New Cataract Surgery Scheduling Rules

Effective 1 July, Moldova’s Ministry of Health and the National Company of Health Insurance (CNAM) introduced new regulations governing waiting‑list management for cataract operations and prosthetic procedures. The reforms require the use of an electronic module developed by CNAM to administer waiting lists, replacing previous manual processes. The changes aim to streamline patient scheduling and improve access to these surgeries nationwide.

The new rules were approved jointly by the Ministry of Health and CNAM and come into force on the same day, marking the first nationwide shift to a digital system for ophthalmic and prosthetic care.
