Moldova increases foreign exchange limits to 100,000 euros
Moldova is implementing currency liberalization reforms that will significantly increase the threshold for foreign exchange operations conducted without prior authorization from the National Bank of Moldova. The current limit of 10,000 euros is set to rise to 100,000 euros, with potential future increases to 250,000 euros.
Banking expert Igor Stratan notes that these changes aim to simplify bureaucratic procedures and align Moldova's regulatory framework with European Union standards. Such liberalization is considered a fundamental pillar of the EU single market, facilitating the free movement of capital. The reforms are intended to benefit both citizens working abroad and the domestic business environment by providing a massive surplus of capital and modernizing the financial system, following Moldova's integration into the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA).
