A fire broke out in the connecting corridor between the arrivals and departures terminals at Henri Coandă International Airport in Otopeni on the morning of October 29, 2026. Authorities reported seeing smoke at approximately 01:15, prompting an immediate response from the airport's fire service.

A Romanian woman is the primary suspect in the incident. Preliminary reports suggest the fire may have been started in a public restroom, possibly after the individual smoked there and ignited a trash bin. The suspect, who has a history of psychiatric hospitalizations, was treated by medical teams and transported under escort to various hospitals for specialized evaluation.

Police are conducting investigations into destruction and bodily harm. No other victims or significant material damages were reported, and air traffic remained unaffected by the incident.
