Moldova Launches High-Interest 170 MW Wind Farm Auction with Storage Requirement
Sixteen investors submitted bids for a 170 MW wind farm project that must include energy‑storage systems, offering more than 423 MW of wind capacity and over 305 MWh of storage. Technical bids were opened on 18 June, after which financial offers will be evaluated. Minister of Energy Dorin Junghietu said the strong competition demonstrates the sector’s attractiveness and investor confidence in government policies, and that the storage mandate will enhance grid flexibility and stability.
Selected projects will receive the status of large eligible producer and a 15‑year guarantee for electricity purchase, providing investment predictability. Moldova’s renewable capacity has risen to over 1 GW in 2026, up from 76 MW in 2020, reflecting rapid sector expansion.
The auction aims to secure competitive prices, domestic energy supply, and continued investment in national power infrastructure.
