Moldova launches tender for access road to new Ungheni “Podul de Flori” bridge
The National Roads Administration (AND) in Moldova has issued a competitive tender for the construction of a 410‑metre access road to the new “Podul de Flori” bridge over the Prut River at Ungheni. Companies may submit offers until 10:00 a.m. on 8 September 2026. The contract covers earthworks, road structure, drainage systems, relocation and protection of utility networks, as well as road markings and traffic signs.
The project is financed by the World Bank and co‑funded by the Moldovan government, with about €35 million from the EU’s Connecting Europe Facility. Construction is expected to take 12 months. The 261‑metre bridge, the first built in almost six decades, will shorten the journey between Ungheni and Bucharest by two to three hours, making the total travel time to Romania’s capital roughly five hours. It is part of a broader plan to build four additional road bridges across the Prut by 2030.
