The National Agency for Public Health (ANSP) has launched weekly monitoring of influenza and acute respiratory infections for the 2026–2027 flu season. This epidemiological surveillance began on September 28 to track the spread of respiratory viruses and identify increases in illness rates.
The collected data will be used to evaluate the epidemiological situation at both national and territorial levels, providing the public with information on infection trends and prevention measures. Health officials noted that respiratory viruses spread more easily during colder months, with higher risks for children, the elderly, pregnant women, and individuals with chronic illnesses.
In the previous 2025–2026 season, Moldova recorded 3,524 cases of seasonal influenza and 92,242 cases of acute upper respiratory infections. To reduce infection risks, the ANSP recommends frequent handwashing, regular ventilation of indoor spaces, and avoiding close contact with sick individuals or crowded areas.
